Allana and Michael's Dream Makeover
(As seen on Canada AM's September 14th show)

The email message that the winners of 2 Magazine's Bedroom Makeover sent to 2:

Dear 2,
I'm not one to enter contests but yours jumped out at me. BIG TIME. Why? You Ask? Well, my bedroom needs help help help. My husband and I just celebrated our 1st year anniversary and our bedroom is a mash of browns that doesn't exactly excite the senses. We had this plan to make our bedroom into a rich array of golds and very luxurious and most of all an escape from our opposite schedule lives.

Didn't quite happen. We didn't even manage to get a bed to fit us (we share a double I'm 5'9 he's 6'2). So our feet hang off the end of the bed (which is supported by 2x4's) as we stare at our walls of brown/yellow. Doesn't sound very sexy does it? Especially not for a first year of marriage! Our bedroom should be chosen because we deserve it! We both work as self employed Torontonians in a creative way and although we rent we think we still deserve to have sexy bedroom!!! An escape. A refuge. A love nest. And God forbid a bed that fits us.

And the biggest reason of all? Our sheets were stolen from the laundry mat so we only have 2 sets left!!!!!!! Honestly!! So consider us - we are pretty blondes. And we make snacks!

--Allana and Michael
2's decor expert, Amanda Eaton, delivered on her promise to give Allana and Michael a totally new and sexy bedroom.
Our "pretty blonde" winners, Allana and Michael: He's a sexy carpenter-Ty Pennington, watch out!-and she's an actress who reminds us a little of Reese Witherspoon.
Yes, Amanda really did have her work cut out for her, but with the help of great home accessories from the Bay and Home Outfitters, she'll be able to turn this room into a sophisticated, stylish love nest.
Allana and Michael's no. 1 wish: To get rid of the wooden two-by-fours that was their original bed. Thanks to Simmons, their wish came true.
Out with the old and in with the new-a plush new Simmons Beautyrest Queen mattress (with pillow-top), foundation and bed frame. As Simmons states, "When sleep is so calming and so relaxing, it's the ultimate escape." Sweet dreams, Allana and Michael.
This formerly dark and dingy room is now light and airy thanks to Benjamin Moore paint in Smoky Taupe (eggshell finish) for the walls and Dune White (semi-gloss) for the trim.
Amanda placed the measurements for the window treatment wider and higher then the actual window frame, creating a more substantial and sophisticated-looking finish.
These heavy, rich, dark chocolate curtains from the Nautica collection at Home Outfitters provide the seductively cozy atmosphere that our couple were originally aiming for but never quite achieved.
From old-fashioned to contempo: The entire dresser gets a facelift with Benjamin Moore paint in Van Buren Brown (semi-gloss) and is dressed with new brushed-nickel pulls from Home Depot to update its overall look.
Amanda captures the elegance of the antique dresser by pairing it with a sophisticated, modern mirror from Home Outfitters.
To personalize the revamped dresser, Amanda accessorizes it with a sleek glass candleholder from the Sia collection at the Bay. The espresso-scented votives not only provide a delectable scent, but they also offer a romantic glow. Delicate floral touches soften the dresser and tie all the pieces together. Pretty in pink, the new Eternity Moment collection (Eau du Parfum, body lotion and shower gel) from Calvin Klein complement the romance and sophistication of the room.
Amanda purchased a matching bedskirt, duvet cover and shams for continuity, and different sheets sets (including chocolate, white and gingham) for ease of changing the look. Queen shams, Euro square pillows really fill out the bed and create a luxurious feel.
Michael and Allana, all giddy and nervous, moments before the final reveal. Get these 2 blindfolds off us!
By George, I think we've done it!! Allana and Michael are delighted with their new bedroom.
The final reveal. Just what Michael and Allana requested: A sexy love nest to escape to every night after a long, hard day. The new luxurious bed was created with bedding in continental pattern with espresso accents from the House and Home Collection from Springs Canada, available exclusively at the Bay. The green, silk throw cushions from the Sia collection at the Bay add a punch of colour. As a cool alternative to a headboard, a shelving unit was accessorized with frames of various sizes from Home Outfitters.
Display vases, fresh-cut flowers and soft lighting add romance and create atmosphere to the room. Key tip: Keep it simple.
It would appear that all this talk of romance and love has set in. Michael and Allana seem to be wrapped up with each other, so I think we'll take the hint and leave them to settle in and enjoy their new room.
